AutoArts x James Bowles
I was tasked with creating an illustration for the back cover of a special edition of AutoArts Illustrated, a newspaper published by AutoArts. The particular edition centered around Porsche and more specifically the Porsche 959. Seeing as this car has long been one of my favorites, I was excited by the opportunity to showcase it and explore its significance as a racing car by referring its storied history at the Paris - Dakar Rally.
Hand Drawn Logo Iterations
At the beginning of this project I was asked to produce illustrated iterations of the AutoArts logo for use in the newspaper and softgoods. These logos were hand drawn, scanned, and altered digitally using Adobe Photoshop.
Text Assets
Following the AutoArts logo, I was asked to create a hand drawn, text based logo to be used for collaborative efforts between myself and the brand.
Digital Asset Creation
The final illustration for this project was a collage of several drawings arranged in Adobe Photoshop. The assets created include several drawings of the 959, the Rothmans logo as they were sponsoring the Porsche Team at the time, and the driver René Metge, who won the race from Paris to Dakar. Several drafts were created before the final version.
Sticker Design
Sticker design created using various digital assets. The colors were intended to mimic the livery used by the Rothmans Porsche Racing team
Final Illustrated Collage
Below is the final version of the collage that was printed as the back cover of the newspaper. The paper was printed and distributed in October of 2023.
